Subsequent refurbishment and modification work is said to have included fitting the replacement air-cooled flat-four with 1,641cc AA pistons and jugs, EMPI cylinder heads, a 34 PICT-3-style carburetor, a PerTronix vacuum-advance distributor, a blue Beru ignition coil, and a 12-volt electrical system as well as lowering the suspension, overhauling the drum brakes, and lining the cabin with sound-deadening material. Finished in gray and black over replacement black vinyl upholstery, the car also features a four-speed manual transaxle, chrome-finished bumpers, staggered-width 15″ wheels, a clutch pedal extender, a roller-style throttle pedal, an EMPI shifter, and a glove box-mounted tachometer and multimedia stereo.
