Mechanical aspects of the body-off project involved retrofitting a freshly built 2054cc flat-four, installing a rebuilt “Freeway Flyer” four-speed manual transaxle, replacing the electrical system with a 12-volt conversion, rebuilding the steering and suspension, and adding front disc brakes. The body was repaired and refinished in Anthracite (L469), and the interior was redone with a gray and cream colorway.
